Nature gives us so much; therefore, it is our duty to take care of it.

Step by step toward a future worth living in.

Taubers Unterwirt is committed to sustainability – Why our environment matters so much to us:
For more than 35 years, we have been committed to continuously adapting our business operations to meet environmental requirements, improving them, and always thinking and acting in an ecologically responsible way.
Here are some of the cornerstones of our sustainability efforts:

  • Early 1980s: Installation of solar collectors on the hotel roof to optimize energy efficiency
  • 1985: Founding member of the “South Tyrol Environmental Seal”
  • Participation in regional development programs
  • Organization of various culinary specialty weeks with a focus on local and regional products, “Zero Waste & Turn to Zero”: Chestnut Weeks, Eisack Valley Culinary Weeks, Villnöss Lamb Weeks
  • Conscious energy optimization throughout the entire hotel, for example through:Targeted electricity optimization: Use of LED lighting, switching off lights specifically from 11:00 p.m. onwards, avoiding unnecessary lighting, motion sensors in the corridors
  • Water and energy optimization: Installation of water-saving filters on all taps, careful and mindful irrigation such as drip irrigation, rainwater collection for balcony plants, watering during the cooler morning or evening hours in summer, swimming pool water heated with solar energy until 2025 and thereafter with district heating
  • Additional energy optimization measures: Laundry washed exclusively with environmentally friendly and certified detergents, waste separation throughout the entire hotel, avoidance of unnecessary packaging and individual portions at our buffets, mindful use of resources – for example, wellness slippers and single-use beauty items are provided only upon guest request
  • 2015: Free use of many public transport services and mountain lifts as part of the guest card; hiking shuttle service for activity programs such as guided hikes and bike tours
  • 2018: Preparation of the Common Good Balance Sheet
  • 2019: EU Ecolabel certification for 2020
  • 2020: Joined the Climate Neutrality Alliance 2025 (later renamed “Turn to Zero”) until 2022
  • 2022: Climate Circle Feldthurns. Helene Tauber is also actively committed to sustainable development within the village of Feldthurns.
  • 2023: Since 2023, certified Sustainability IDM South Tyrol – Level 1
We implement both major and minor measures wherever possible and act as a role model, ensuring that our hotel and its surroundings remain livable and special in the future.
Helmut & Helene Tauber

Regional collaboration with local producers

Out of tradition and a love for regionality, we actively promote collaboration with nearby local farmers and producers.
For example, we source free-range eggs, turkeys from a neighboring village farm, and offer over 140 local South Tyrolean wines, including indigenous, organic, and Biwi varieties. And that’s not all: since 2023, we have introduced a “meatless day.” The menu consists entirely of meat-free dishes and has been very well received by our guests. In our “Kuchlgschichten,” we share more about our regional philosophy and how we put it into practice.

Mobility within the framework of sustainability

The “Brixen Southtyrol Card”, included with your stay at our hotel, enables sustainable mobility for every guest.
Our guests can use the mobile "Brixen Southtyrol Card" to travel on all public transport and regional trains throughout South Tyrol free of charge. Thanks to our hotel’s central location, we are excellently connected to the public transport network (until 8:00 p.m.) and can move around South Tyrol in a consciously more sustainable way. Why not use public transport for your journey here as well?😉
